Candlelight vigil commemorates hostages taken, lives lost in Israel

A display of 1,500 electric candles arranged in a Star of David formation illuminated the tent in Schenley Plaza on Friday and Saturday night as Jewish students and community members celebrated the start and end of Shabbat through song, food and drinks.

Student walkout, rally shows support for Palestine

About 200 people participated in a walkout called “Shut it Down for Palestine” to show support for Palestinians on Thursday afternoon. Students and community members met at the “Walking to the Sky” sculpture on Carnegie Mellon University’s campus to hear speakers voice their thoughts on the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

Pitt announces new ‘Finish Line’ grant to assist graduating low-income students in completing their degree

In the fall of 2024, Pitt will implement a one-time, nonrenewable grant that will cover graduating low-income students’ unpaid balances and financial holds. The “Finish Line” grant is the latest step toward Pitt’s goal of creating an “inclusive and equitable campus.”
