Pitt students, faculty and staff who are vaccinated against COVID-19 are now eligible to receive prizes, including up to $2,500 in cash. The University added that there are no plans to require COVID-19 vaccinations to be on campus this fall.

A federal judge dismissed a case from last spring where students were seeking tuition refunds after classes shifted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a ruling issued last Tuesday, the judge said Pitt was following COVID-19 restrictions from the state.

Pitt added 15 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 13 students and two employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 42 students currently in isolation. Pitt is opening a new vaccine clinic next week at the former AT&T storefront on Fifth Avenue in Nordenberg Hall.
Melissa McGivney, the associate dean for community partnerships at the School of Pharmacy, discussed the University’s vaccination efforts at Thursday afternoon’s Senate Council meeting hosted via Zoom. Other officials addressed Pitt’s COVID-19 response and graduation at the meeting.

Pitt submitted a document to a federal court on Thursday asking that it dismiss a case from last spring where students were seeking tuition refunds after classes shifted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 3,300 visitors tour campus amid shelter-in-place

Pitt Pathfinders — the student tour guides who help recruit prospective undergraduate students — hosted 3,350 visitors in one month for modified in-person tours. But not everyone — especially current students — is happy about the tours restarting.
The film “CHASING COVID” follows the work of Dr. Paul Duprex and his team in Pitt’s Center for Vaccine Research, where they have been working to uncover new information about COVID-19.
