Pitt added 30 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 29 students and one employee, between last Friday and Monday, with 67 students currently in isolation.
The Office of Community and Governmental Relations and the Pitt Alumni Association welcomed about 65 people virtually on Tuesday to Pitt Day in Harrisburg. At this event, students and other members of the Pitt community advocated for increased funding from the state and spoke directly with state legislators and their aides.

Pitt added 50 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 42 students and eight employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 71 students currently in isolation. Pitt will institute a University-wide shelter in place on April 16 before in-person commencement.
A multi-year attempt to unionize more than 2,000 graduate students at Pitt appeared to have fallen through earlier this month when the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board upheld graduate students’ April 2019 vote against unionization. But United Steelworkers, the union aiding Pitt graduate students’ and faculty’s unionization efforts, filed an exception to that ruling last Thursday.

Pitt grad union organizers filed an exception to a March 1 decision by the PLRB that upheld the 2019 vote against unionizing. Organizers argue the University didn’t provide sufficient evidence to show that its coercive conduct did not substantially affect the vote tally.

Pitt administers more than 10k vaccines with community partners

Pitt officials said Thursday that the University has reached a vaccine milestone, with more than 10,000 vaccines provided in coordination with the Allegheny County Health Department.
Gene Ney runs Gene’s Place — a bar located on Louisa Place. Ney has only sold takeout cocktails, drafts and other specials for the past few months, but on April 4, he plans to open the bar again at a limited capacity.
