With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the added stress, fear and uncertainty has led many to develop new habits as a way to cope. But for many Pitt students, the new standard is drinking less.

Pitt added 38 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 36 students and two employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 45 students currently in isolation. Faculty and student government leaders said Friday evening that they were frustrated by the rapid rise in cases.

Though the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Pittsburgh and many of the other ways people would normally spend the day, the Irish community has managed to find ways to celebrate their heritage.
The Pitt men’s basketball team wore masks in a team huddle during its game against Saint Francis University on Nov. 25. Head coach Jeff Capel was gut-wrenchingly honest over the course of the past few months about how difficult this season was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dean Bonner posted a video on Monday about the “deeply concerning behavior” he observed on Saturday afternoon. Because of this, the CMRO is encouraging students who attended large gatherings to get COVID-19 tested this week.
