This weekend, Pitt continued its trend of standout individual performances trumping overall team results. Standout performances from junior Evan Addison and senior Greg Lauray of track and field and first-year Abby Grottle of swimming and diving highlighted the weekend.
Pitt wrestling fell to Virginia Tech 27-12, finishing the shortened season at 3-4 overall and 1-4 in conference.

Pitt’s weekend in athletics saw cancellations in softball and soccer. However, the weekend was not without its standout performances. Wrestling’s Jake Wentzel and track and field’s Evan Addison and Greg Lauray did Pitt sports proud.
Jake Wentzel won the 165-pound weight class matchup against UNC’s Kennedy Monday.

A cold and overcast weekend was capped off with disappointment from Pitt wrestling and gymnastics. Stellar individual performances were not enough to turn the tide on any front.
The Pitt Gymnastics team earned its first victory of the season Sunday afternoon by narrowly beating out NC State and Towson with a final score of 195.700.

The weekend was a mixed bag for Pitt sports teams. The high-powered wrestling team continued to struggle in a tight loss against Virginia, even as the track and field team finished last at the Notre Dame invitational. Nevertheless, Pitt swimming and diving furthered its unprecedented success in a dual meet sweep, and the gymnastics team earned its first win of the season.

Pitt Athletics hosted its third annual Panthers' Choice Awards Wednesday, celebrating student-athlete achievements in academics, athletics and citizenship.
Five Pitt gymnasts earned all-conference honors in the 2020 East Atlantic Gymnastics League, including senior transfer Michaela Burton, who wrapped up her career with three First Team honors for bars, beam and floor.
