Pitt releases long-awaited climate plan

Pitt released its climate plan on Thursday, detailing the University’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2037.
The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion hosted its “Combating Environmental Racism and Injustice” event on Thursday as part of Pitt’s annual Diversity Forum.

Panelists discuss environmental hazards, ways to combat injustices

As part of Pitt’s annual Diversity Forum, the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion hosted the event “Combating Environmental Racism and Injustice” on Thursday to discuss experiences with and perspectives on environmental justice.

Pitt Climate Action Plan release moved to late summer, early fall as student orgs demand answers

While a special board of trustees committee said Pitt’s climate action plan would be released by the end of March, officials now say the plan will likely be released by late summer or early fall due to the original timeline being too “ambitious.”
Pitt’s Office of Sustainability provided a list of COVID-safe ways to celebrate Earth Day this year — such as guided hikes and park cleanups —  with different community organizations, while also providing educational resources so people can both celebrate and learn.

Pitt’s Office of Sustainability provided a list of COVID-safe ways to celebrate Earth Day this year — such as guided hikes and park cleanups — with different community organizations, while also providing educational resources so people can both celebrate and learn.
All Pitt Eats locations still participate in the food recovery program and continue to donate surplus food to local agencies that fight hunger, diverting it from landfills.

COVID-19 restrictions affect waste across campus

Even though COVID-19 has impacted how the Pitt community operates this semester, students are still thinking about sustainable practices on campus. Maya Knee, the director of the Pitt Green Fund, said students are still focusing on sustainability during this time.
