Pitt women’s basketball entered Sunday’s game against rival Notre Dame hoping to get revenge for its close, early-January loss to the Irish. Despite a strong start, Pitt’s shooting struggles and a key injury handicapped the team on its way to another big defeat, 74-52 in South Bend, Indiana.
Pitt women’s basketball fell to Georgia Tech at the Petersen Events Center Thursday night.

Pitt women’s basketball will receive a much-needed infusion of hope, strength and joy this Saturday when the Panthers host No. 14 FSU in the 13th annual Pink the Petersen game for breast cancer awareness.
Pitt swept the 0-11 Duke Blue Devils 50-0 Saturday and beat out Edinboro 28-6 Sunday.

Swim supremacy and wrestling conquest highlight Pitt sports weekend

The weekend in Pitt sports was highlighted by the No. 10 wrestling team bouncing back in a big way after a tough loss against Oklahoma State on Saturday, Jan. 18. The swim and dive team excelled too — along with Senior Day festivities, they dominated other universities in the area in the Western PA Invitational at Trees Pool.
With the loss to No. 5 Louisville, the Panthers (3-16 overall, 0-8 ACC) extend their losing streak to 12 games on the season and remain winless in conference play in womens’ basketball.

While the Panthers trailed by a manageable eight points at halftime, they collapsed in the second half en route to a season-worst 88-44 loss.
Senior Michaela Burton posted a score of 9.875 on the floor exercise, the highest on the day during Pitt’s 193.750-193.225 loss to Ball State.
