Football: Norvell resigns position, joins Graham at Arizona State

Pitt co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Mike Norvell resigned his position, Pitt… Pitt co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Mike Norvell resigned his position, Pitt Athletics spokesman E.J. Borghetti confirmed on Thursday night.

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review reported that Norvell attended Sun Devils practiced with former Pitt head coach Todd Graham on Thursday. Arizona State announced Graham as its new head coach on Wednesday.

Former Pitt tight ends coach Tony Dews, secondary coach Tony Gibson and co-offensive coordinator Calvin Magee accepted jobs on Rich Rodriguez’s staff at University of Arizona a week ago.

Pitt has five coaches remaining on staff for the BBVA Compass Bowl on Jan. 7. Keith Patterson, who was the defensive coordinator this season, will serve as interim head coach. Quarterbacks coach Todd Dodge, defensive line coach Paul Randolph, offensive line coach Spencer Leftwich and special teams/linebackers coach Randall McCray are all currently still on staff.
