Pitt officials said Thursday that 78 students and 23 employees tested positive for COVID-19 from Feb. 16 to Feb. 22.

An email sent by Pitt’s COVID-19 Medical Response Office encouraged members of the Pitt community to update their records with the COVID-19 booster dose. They also said the Pitt CoVax Vaccination Center is open five days a week and appointments are available.

The CMRO also said while the COVID-19 transmission is “way down” compared to the peak of the Omicron variant’s peak, they also said it’s important to have “perspective” when assuming that the pandemic is over. They said cases remain high throughout the state, but vaccination rates help to diminish the health effects on Pitt campuses.

With spring break coming up, the CMRO said COVID-19 testing will follow the same guidelines as Thanksgiving break, with unvaccinated community members required to continue with weekly testing over break. Vaccinated individuals are encouraged, but not required, to test upon their return from break.
