Pitt police responded to the sixth floor of the dormitory about 2:30 this morning to find Pitt student Michael Scott, 18, unresponsive and medics declared him dead at the scene, Pitt spokesman John Fedele said.

His family has been notified, Fedele said.

Fedele said that the University Counseling Center was in Lothrop Hall helping students cope with the death. He said that if students desire counseling they should contact the counseling center.

The counseling center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, according to its website.
