People living in South Oakland should have power again around 1 p.m.

Wind knocked down power wires near the intersection of Bates and Semple streets this morning, said Joey Vallarian, a spokesman for Duquesne Light.

He said he wasn’t sure how much of Oakland had been affected by the toppled wires, but power appeared to be out along the Boulevard of the Allies, Ward Street and parts of Atwood Street.
