Senior Tim Konoval and junior Sam Bair like to run. A lot. For long distances.

And they’re darn good, too.

Both Konoval and Bair boast strong performances on this season in the 1,500-meter event. Last year both Panther men qualified in the event to compete at the 2006 NCAA East Regional Championships.

Bair ran the event two weeks ago at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, showing his teammate up with a second-place finish and a time of 3:48.85.

Konoval was hot on his heels in fourth place at the invitational, burning up the track in 3:50.50.

Last Saturday, Konoval came back with a second-place finish in the 1,500 at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.

His personal best time of 3:44.24 at the meet gave him a regional-qualifying spot, the first to come for the Panther men this season.

Bair ran his own personal best in the 1,500 last year at the Texas Relays with a time of 3:43.50.

Konoval and Bair also compete in the 800-meter and 1-mile races, and Bair stands as an All-American in the 1-mile from last year.
