Ballroom gets makeover

With unfinished wooden floors visible and chandeliers wrapped in plastic, the ballroom in… With unfinished wooden floors visible and chandeliers wrapped in plastic, the ballroom in the Union doesn’t look quite ready to host club meetings, class registrations or career fairs, but by the fall semester it should be open and statelier than ever.

The Pitt Facilities department has taken on a small project to refurbish the floors of the ballroom in the William Pitt Union before students return at the end of August.

University spokesperson John Fedele said workers had removed the old, worn carpet and planned to replace it with carpet that “reflects the historic character of the ballroom.”

Fedele said his department projected an end to the renovations by Aug. 4 of this year.
