Social Security numbers to become more secure at Pitt

Beginning in the fall, Pitt students will no longer use their Social Security numbers for… Beginning in the fall, Pitt students will no longer use their Social Security numbers for identification purposes.

According to University spokesperson John Fedele, the change is in the works and is expected to be in place by September of this year. The new system will give students a randomly generated identification number.
