Sound and movement invaded Litchfield Towers’ lobby Wednesday afternoon as members of the… Sound and movement invaded Litchfield Towers’ lobby Wednesday afternoon as members of the Attack Theatre ensemble performed as part of PittARTS’ and Residence Life’s “Artful Wednesdays” program.

Attack Theatre revisited Pitt after debuting “No-To: Memory Fades” last year with a Japanese collaboration in the Charity Randall Theater. Artistic directors Peter Kope and Michele de la Reza invited the audience to participate in exercises in counterbalance, one of the bases of their unique dancing style. To demonstrate the theory in action, Kope, de la Reza, and ensemble member Jil Stifel performed an off-the-cuff dance with Kope holding a sandwich, unable to use his arms.

“This is the first time we’ve performed while I’m having my lunch,” Kope said.

The ensemble also performed other short performances and excerpts from “No-To: Memory Fades.” Attack Theatre’s next Pittsburgh performance is Stravinsky’s “A Soldier’s Tale,” a collaboration with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, opening Heinz Hall on Nov. 5.
