Whether you are hoping to draw finals week to a close by listening to the Pittsburgh Symphony… Whether you are hoping to draw finals week to a close by listening to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Mendelssohn Choir perform Handel’s Messiah, planning to attend one of the many Christmas concerts in Heinz Hall, or just craving a bit of Christmas beauty before going home for the holidays, an ornate, 30-foot Frazier fir is sure to add a little sparkle to your day.

The tree will be on display, complete with thousands upon thousands of lights and ornaments in the Grand Lobby of Heinz Hall throughout the holiday season. All concertgoers will be able to marvel at its glistening presence over the next few weeks. However, you need not purchase a symphony ticket to enjoy this tree; it will be open for public viewing Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Dec. 23.

The tree grew to such great heights at a tree farm near New Germany, Pa, and was designed and decorated in the Victorian style for Heinz Hall by Tim Wilcox. Furthermore, come sunset Dec. 19, the giant Chanukah menorah accompanying the tree will begin to glow. Those who long to escape the gloom of dorms devoid of Christmas and Chanukah cheer will find sparkle and happiness downtown at Heinz Hall.
