For hundreds of years, America has prided itself on its ethnic and cultural diversity, yet the issue of affirmative action continues to raise controversy.

Since the 1960s, colleges and universities have used affirmative action to give underrepresented students, staff and faculty an edge in education, but schools continue to fight for the right to legally use affirmative action.
