Reports: Jamie Dixon considering accepting TCU head coaching job

The Pitt men’s basketball team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament on Friday, but intrigue surrounding the program is just heating up.

Gary Parrish of CBS Sports reports that Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon is considering accepting the position of head coach at Texas Christian University, Dixon’s alma mater, according to CBS unidentified sources.

Pitt Athletics spokesperson EJ Borghetti declined comment on Sunday, saying Pitt does not comment on other institutions’ coaching searches.

He would replace Trent Johnson, whom TCU fired last week.

Parrish reports that TCU is willing to compensate Dixon significantly enough so that there would be no downturn in his salary.

Dixon just completed his 13th season as Pitt’s head coach and has been with the program since 1999. He made his 11th NCAA Tournament, the third-most ever in a coach’s first 13 years. He has compiled a career record of 328-123.

His current contract with Pitt runs through 2023.
