Women’s Basketball: Pitt falls to No. 17 North Carolina, drops fourth in a row

The Pitt women’s basketball team lost its fourth-straight game on Thursday night, falling to No. 17 North Carolina 86-50 at Carmichael Arena.

Junior guard Brianna Kiesel struggled in her return to the lineup after missing the Wake Forest game earlier this week. She finished with just eight points on 2-for-13 shooting.

The Panthers (10-15, 2-9 ACC) struggled overall from the field, converting only 17 of their 61 shot attempts.

Senior Asia Logan led Pitt with 14 points.

North Carolina (19-6, 7-4 ACC) raced out to a 19-4 lead to start the game and did not look back. The Tar Heels finished shooting 40 percent from three-point range and 35-for-72 overall.

Freshman guards Allisha Gray and Diamond DeShields led the way for North Carolina, scoring 21 and 19 points, respectively.

Pitt returns to action on Sunday for the annual “Pink the Petersen” breast-cancer-awareness game versus Clemson at 2 p.m.
