Oakland businesses adjust to social distancing order

After Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s order on March 19 to temporarily close all nonessential businesses and limit restaurants to takeout or delivery, Oakland businesses are adjusting in multiple ways.
Pitt will resume construction activity on Bigelow Boulevard following an order from Gov. Tom Wolf permitting construction projects in PA to resume.

Pitt construction halted under governor’s order

As businesses shutter across Pennsylvania in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the roaring sounds of construction normally heard across Pitt have gone silent as well.
The Student Emergency Assistance Fund was created in a joint effort between the Office of Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs and allows students in need of emergency financial assistance to apply for a grant from the fund to cover expenses.

Pitt holds first online Admitted Students Day

With the shift to a world online, OAFA has shifted as well. The office continues to connect with incoming students through programs like online advising and a virtual Admitted Students Day while employees work from home.
Most students have not been able to meet with their advisers in person and have had to rely on programs like Zoom and Skype as well as emails and phone calls to plan their academic progress.
