Pitt researchers published a scientific paper detailing the idea of delivering nanobodies — antibodies derived from mammals in the camel family and 10 times smaller than traditional human antibodies — to hamsters who were severely infected by COVID-19.
Laurel Gift decided to implement a new service, Pitt Concern Connection, with a more user-friendly platform and a centralized system than Alertline.

When approaching creating a new resource for community members to submit concerns, Laurel Gift said Pitt “can only be as healthy as our community.” Gift, an assistant vice chancellor and head of the Office of Compliance, Investigation and Ethics, was involved in creating Pitt Concern Connection, Pitt’s new all-in-one reporting system.
Pitt students are looking forward to the in-person activities and opportunities that will be available this upcoming year.

Pitt students, faculty and staff who are vaccinated against COVID-19 are now eligible to receive prizes, including up to $2,500 in cash. The University added that there are no plans to require COVID-19 vaccinations to be on campus this fall.
While the CDC said fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear face coverings in most indoor settings, some people are nervous about removing their masks.
