The University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Finance released its Consolidated Endowment Fund Environmental, Social and Governance report for fiscal year 2023 on May 7. The update details the CEF’s current investment into fossil fuels and the University’s plan to phase out these investments within the next decade.
Since the start of May, nine tornadoes have occurred in the Pittsburgh region alone, the highest number recorded since 1985. Warm air from the Gulf of Mexico and wind conditions, among other factors, have likely caused the uptick in tornado occurrences in the region.

SGB released a statement on Sunday “regarding the Pitt Gaza solidarity encampment,” in which the board offered its support for student advocacy on campus and expressed solidarity with the protest taking place.

Around 80 protestors from the Pitt faculty union and United Steelworkers gathered outside of the Cathedral of Learning on Tuesday to deliver a letter to Chancellor Joan Gabel with their demands. As of Wednesday, the University has reached an agreement with the union on their labor contract after three years of negotiations.
