This week, anyone walking along Forbes Avenue may have noticed that the Beehive, a favorite coffeehouse for anyone with spiked hair, is now closed.
The Beehive’s owners have said that they will not reopen the Beehive in that location ever again. Although the reasons are unclear at the moment, one can be assured that anyone who wants to visit a Beehive will now have to venture to Carson Street on the South Side.
This is a grave loss for Oakland, as the Beehive joins C.J. Barney’s as yet another college hangout closed without notice.
The face of Oakland is changing, and not necessarily for the better. With C.J. Barney’s and the Beehive now out of business, Oakland is losing the college town atmosphere that has made it such a great place to be. Those two establishments were places that
