As the regular season comes to a close and college basketball ramps up into conference tournaments, the time to hand out yearly awards has come as well. Staff writer Kyle Saxon breaks down who he thinks should take home annual honors in the ACC.

One letter can sum up Pitt baseball’s (6-1, 3-0) opening ACC series in Tallahassee: K. Rather, 27 copies of that same letter. The Panthers’ two starting pitchers rung up Florida State batters that many times combined Friday and Saturday night, leading the team to consecutive wins by scores of 1-0 and 7-2, respectively, over Florida State (2-4, 0-3).
Pitt men’s basketball (9-7 overall, 5-5 ACC) lost 71-65 to Georgia Tech (10-8 overall, 6-6 ACC) on Sunday night in an away game in Atlanta.

Woeful offense dooms men’s basketball in 71-65 loss to Georgia Tech

A late rally from Pitt (9-7 overall, 5-5 ACC) was not enough to overcome its own sloppy play in a 71-65 loss to Georgia Tech (10-8 overall, 6-6 ACC) on Sunday night in Atlanta. Pitt’s 18 turnovers and lowly 53% shooting from the free throw line proved fatal in the second half as the Panthers dropped their second loss in a row since upsetting No. 16 Virginia Tech.
Pitt women’s basketball lost 81-72 against North Carolina at home this afternoon.

Pitt women’s basketball (4-9, 2-8 ACC) continued its recent cold-streak futility with its fifth loss in a row, this time against North Carolina (10-8, 5-8 ACC) with a score of 81-72. This comes on the heels of a matchup where Pitt surrendered a late lead to Wake Forest and lost in overtime.

Pitt baseball head coach Mike Bell announced the Panthers 2021 ACC schedule on Tuesday, which will feature 12 conference series, two more than the traditional 10.
The ACC released a full conference schedule Tuesday morning with 20 games for each basketball-playing member school.

Pitt men’s basketball has been practicing for well over a month, but without a full schedule. But on Tuesday morning the ACC released a full conference schedule with 20 games for each basketball-playing member school.

Both 2020 Panthers gamedays have gone relatively smoothly. Seven Panthers sat out the Austin Peay game due to COVID-19 protocols, and three sat out against Syracuse. But Pitt has avoided the dreaded postponed or cancelled games that follow large-scale outbreaks.
