SGB approves anti-hate ad hoc committee, hears concerns of unfair treatment on campus

Chancellor and Provost office to take control of local antisemitism initiative

President of the Faculty Assembly Robin Kear announced on Dec. 4 the ad hoc committee on antisemitism will move forward under the Chancellor and Provost’s office. Members of EIADAC initially expressed frustration, but some now support a higher authority takeover.

Antisemitism ad hoc committee’s future uncertain after decision to halt its formation

On Nov. 20, Pitt’s Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Advocacy Committee (EIADAC) voted to support recommendations to establish an Ad Hoc Committee on Antisemitism. But in an email one week later, Faculty Senate members learned the executive committee is “no longer pursuing” the creation of the ad hoc committee.

Faculty Assembly discusses antisemitic violence on campus, announces antisemitism ad-hoc committee

On Wednesday, Nov. 6., Faculty Assembly reflected on the 2024 presidential election, addressed recent acts of antisemitic violence on campus with the creation of an antisemitism ad hoc committee and discussed new affinity groups to expand the Senate.

SGB seeks student input on board member opening, shares plans for ad-hoc committees

Pitt Climate Action Plan release moved to late summer, early fall as student orgs demand answers

While a special board of trustees committee said Pitt’s climate action plan would be released by the end of March, officials now say the plan will likely be released by late summer or early fall due to the original timeline being too “ambitious.”
