Panther Hollow Bridge closes as City continues efforts to maintain bridge safety

The Panther Hollow Bridge in Oakland closed for maintenance on Oct 19. The closure, followed by inspection, is one of the many steps the City of Pittsburgh is taking to maintain the safety of bridges ever since the tragic event of Fern Hollow Bridge collapse in 2022.

As factors like age and exposure to climate change affect structures season after season, Pittsburgh’s C- infrastructure grade isn’t on track to get better. The basis for our travel must take precedence or else we’re just waiting for the next thing to crumble or sink.
