Pitt completed the final section of the cooling tower for its new chilled water plant earlier this month, which will contribute to keeping buildings cool on upper campus.

While a special board of trustees committee said Pitt’s climate action plan would be released by the end of March, officials now say the plan will likely be released by late summer or early fall due to the original timeline being too “ambitious.”

At the winter Board of Trustees meeting on Feb. 28, Pitt made a historic commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2037. Now comes the hard part of actually figuring out how to implement this goal.
