To honor its 50th anniversary, Pitt’s Africana studies department hosted a series of four, one-day virtual symposium panels last week under the title “Reckoning and Re-envisioning: Africana Studies at 50 and Beyond.”

Black Pitt students staged a 1969 sit-in to demand changes for Black students and faculty on campus. The Black Action Society and the African American Alumni Council hosted a Saturday virtual sit-in to commemorate the historic computer center takeover’s 53rd anniversary.
