Affirmative action has been on the decline for years, but the announcement of its ultimate demise was still a slap in the face to students and families from traditionally underrepresented racial groups. While current students won’t feel the repercussions of the Supreme Court ruling, future generations will be left with the aftermath.
“First Peoples Past & Present: Native Health and Voting Power,” an event focusing on the history of Native people in Pittsburgh and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on Native communities, was hosted by Pitt’s Office of Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion on Wednesday afternoon.

Katie Pope is the coordinator of the Title IX office. The Title IX office will now be included in a division with civil rights, after the Office of Diversity and Inclusion separates into two divisions: Inclusion and Access, and Civil Rights and Title IX.
