Board of Trustees unanimously approves formal socially responsible investing process, commits to carbon neutrality by 2037

Pitt's Board of Trustees unanimously approved measures to create a formal socially responsible investing process for its $4.3 billion endowment, as well as supporting carbon neutrality by 2037.
University officials said the Board will vote on several measures related to fossil fuel divestment and socially responsible investing at their meeting on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Members of the Fossil Free Pitt Coalition demonstrated at Pitt’s previous Board of Trustees meeting at Pitt’s Johnstown campus.

Pitt’s Board of Trustees will hold its first meeting of 2020 in the William Pitt Union’s Assembly Room on Friday at 10:30 a.m. to provide an update on University affairs to the community.
Dozens of students who are pushing Pitt to divest its endowment from fossil fuels have been staying overnight during the Fossil Free Pitt Coalition’s 24/7 occupation of the Cathedral of Learning.
