Pittsburgh City Council amended and advanced Shadyside developer Walnut Capital’s Oakland Crossings plan last Wednesday, moving it to the City Planning Commission.

“Welsfest” — a late August block party on Oakland’s Welsford Street — was not just the talk of the town for Pitt students. Oakland community members shared their takes at a community meeting on the block party, which had more than 1,000 Pitt students in attendance.
The Oakland Planning and Development Corp. discussed various developments at its August meeting, including a stormwater management plan, Carnegie Mellon University’s Institutional Master Plan and UPMC’s proposal for a new bed tower on the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street.
