Students showcase sustainable art at an Eco-Artisans exhibit

On April 11, students in Allebach’s class hosted an Eco-Artisans exhibit as part of their class project. The exhibit featured recycled artwork made by students, faculty and artists in the Pittsburgh area.

SOOS, Green Fund work to build sustainable future at Pitt

The Pitt Green Fund aims to fund sustainability initiatives on Pitt’s campus to promote environmental justice. Leaders said they also hope to promote diversity, equity and justice on campus through their sustainability work.
Pitt community members can find food vendors from local farms and eateries gathered at the William Pitt Union Plaza every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through Oct. 28.

Pitt farmers market brings farm-fresh food to Oakland

If you’re looking for fresh produce, you can find vendors from local farms and eateries gathered at the William Pitt Union Plaza every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through Oct. 28 at Pitt’s Farmers Market.
All Pitt Eats locations still participate in the food recovery program and continue to donate surplus food to local agencies that fight hunger, diverting it from landfills.

COVID-19 restrictions affect waste across campus

Even though COVID-19 has impacted how the Pitt community operates this semester, students are still thinking about sustainable practices on campus. Maya Knee, the director of the Pitt Green Fund, said students are still focusing on sustainability during this time.
Pitt has extended its free 30-minute-ride HealthyRide program from only first years to students still  living in on-campus housing through the end of April.
