‘Vulnerability is a strength’: Panelists discuss the importance of conversations about mental health

Pitt’s Resident Student Association sponsored a town hall Wednesday titled “The Strength of a Story: A Conversation of Mental Health and Advocacy.” The event’s three speakers explored the importance of self-care and advocacy in mental health conversations.
Pitt’s 29-year streak working with Sodexo ended last July to partner with Compass Group, ushering in new meal plans, food options and dining locations for Pitt students.

When students walk in The Eatery this fall, they can expect a different scene than last year’s take-out stations and styrofoam containers. New food and more conversation will be the new norm, according to a representative from Pitt’s dining contractor.
Compass Group, Pitt’s dining contractor for the past year, is planning to make some changes to the dining experience for the upcoming fall semester.

Pitt’s dining contractor, Compass Group, is planning to bring more diverse menu options and let students serve themselves at the dining halls, rather than being pre-packaged meals like last year. Students can also expect two new dining options in the WPU.

Hillel and RSA hosted the first of the four-part town hall series Sunday evening. About 60 people attended the Q&A session with local Jewish activists which focused on historical and modern anti-Semitism. People could submit their questions before the panel, or through a chat feature during the zoom call.

SGB addresses latest COVID-19 case numbers

SGB released a statement on Monday in response to the University’s decision last week to allow professors to request to move their class to in-person instruction if there is a “definable benefit,” . Board members and committee chairs also discussed COVID-19 and student activities budget updates and conversations with Pitt police, among other updates.
