The emotions that typically accompany a loss in the national semifinal are shock, disappointment and heartbreak. But for Pitt men’s soccer, these feelings didn’t linger — instead, the notions of progress and optimism prevailed. 
Despite controlling possession for much of the match, the Panthers’ historic season came to an underwhelming end on Friday as Pitt fell to Indiana 1-0.

In its first College Cup appearance in program history, No. 2 Pitt men’s soccer faced one of the most accomplished programs in all of Division I soccer in the No. 3 Indiana Hoosiers. In their 21st trip to the national semifinal, the Hoosiers bested the Panthers 1-0.

No. 2 Pitt (16-3) men’s soccer reached a program milestone Monday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N. C., after defeating the No. 7 Washington Huskies (12-4) 3-0 to reach the College Cup for the first time in program history.
The Panthers netted three goals in the first half and capitalized on several mistakes from the UCF backline in an impressive 4-0 victory.

For the second consecutive season, Pitt men’s soccer is headed to the NCAA tournament. The Panthers earned the No. 2 overall seed in the bracket, and will face the winner of Monmouth and Bowling Green in their first match on May 2.
