With a 4-1 victory on Easter Sunday against No. 6 Virginia, Pitt baseball won its fourth consecutive ACC series. The win boosts the Panthers’ chances of reaching the NCAA Tournament.

After holding another late lead, Pitt men’s basketball engineered another brutal collapse and last-second loss, this time to Virginia, 57-56 in the ACC opener on Friday night in Charlottesville, Virginia.

With just two games remaining in the regular season, there are still three Coastal division teams — the Pitt Panthers, Virginia Cavaliers and Virginia Tech Hokies — with a chance to represent their side of the ACC in the Dec. 4 conference title game.

No. 22 Pitt Volleyball (5-4) began spring ACC play at the Fitzgerald Field House against Virginia (2-8) this past Saturday. The Panthers came into the matchup with an even 4-4 conference record while the Cavaliers entered winless against ACC opponents. Pitt won the match handily by a final of three sets to one.

Pitt men’s basketball was in control for most of the game, but a short run early in the second half cemented UVA’s 73-66 win over the Panthers on Saturday afternoon.

Thursday's loss makes eight straight for Pitt and also gives the Panthers their most losses in school history, eclipsing the previous high of 24 in the 1995-96 season.

The defending national champion Virginia Cavaliers earned a road win in the Petersen Events Center Saturday, but a late Panther run made the game come down to the final second.
