Ashton Gibbs returned to the lineup for the No. 4 Pitt… Ashton Gibbs returned to the lineup for the No. 4 Pitt men’s basketball team to tie his career-high with 26 points.

Yet the Panthers (24-3, 12-2 Big East) were unable to defeat St. John’s (17-9, 9-5) Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden, falling 60-59.

Pitt took the lead on a Travon Woodall 3-pointer with roughly 10 second to play but St. John’s guard Dwight Hardy responded with a layup with 1.2 seconds left to give his team the lead and the victory.

In his return from an MCL injury which sidelined him for three games, Gibbs went 6-9 from 3-point range.
