In a colorful display featuring dresses made of natural materials, Phipps Conservatory’s latest exhibit brings together runway gowns and nature. Titled “Flowers Meet Fashion: Inspired by Billy Porter,” the exhibit opened on May 6 and will continue to run through June 25.

The exhibit features several displays of gowns made by six professional fashion designers and costumers, with the help of students from Carnegie Mellon University and Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts 6-12 School.

The fashion designs on display among the flowers and horticulture are inspired by Porter’s “local roots and iconic array of accomplishments as an award-winning actor, singer, director, composer and playwright,” according to the Phipps website. Porter is originally from Pittsburgh and attended Carnegie Mellon School of Drama.
