The bone graft surgery, which took place at UPMC South Side Hospital, was needed to correct a fifth metatarsal fracture in Dixon’s foot. But team physicians and trainers expect him to return to the court this season.

“We fully expect Jermaine to make a full recovery,” Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said in a statement released by the athletic department. “The surgery was a success and we know that Jermaine will work hard during the rehabilitation process.”

Dixon had originally fractured his fifth metatarsal in his right foot in July. This is his second surgery on his foot in roughly three months.
