Another fall semester, another great set of shows. Tonight will yield some of the most promising bands of the year with Hot Water Music, Thrice, Coheed ‘ Cambria and Vendetta Red. What more could you ask for than a killer live show to give October a kick in the rear?

Hot Water Music is a band that combines intricate melodies with some beautiful singing, as well as some throaty screams. One of the sweatiest (and hardworking to boot) live bands, they penetrate the crowd with limitless energy that only Hot Water Music can bring to the stage.

Whether or not you like the type of music they play, they will have your full attention because of their great stage presence. They manage to be touring with just about every great band in the United States whenever they come to town, and what better mates than Thrice?

Thrice is an indie band that signed on with a major label earlier this year. These screamy emo stars from California put out their most mature album to date in The Illusion of Safety, which manages to continue to get radio play around the country. Thrice draws comparisons to hardcore, metal and even pop-punk bands. But what is enticing about the band is how they manage to bring this all together in one sexy package.

Coheed ‘ Cambria is one hell of a band. It would truly be a faux pas to be a rock fan without checking this band out. The Second Stage Turbine Blade is one of those records that will just surprise you again and again. While the vocals are a bit difficult to get into at first, they do a great job on the album – and they’re even better live. Revelation Records did an excellent job in promoting these guys, because their incredible sound is very marketable, and truly have what it takes to make it in the long run.

Also on the bill is a band that’s a bit unknown, Vendetta Red. They’re less well-known, but they’ll bring a promising show to the table, since their tourmates know what their fans will love.
