Although Pitt submitted the application to the NMC through the new FIDL, the award goes to the University as a whole. This means participation in the NMC is open to all interested parties at Pitt.
NMC Chief Executive Officer Larry Johnson wrote that the NMC reviewers unanimously recommended Pitt to be admitted for membership in the acceptance letter sent to the University.
The FIDL, located in Alumni Hall, celebrated its grand opening April 15.
It consists of a facility where faculty can meet with specialists who can help them use new equipment and technology as it arrives at the University, according to Nick Laudato, associate director of instructional technology.
