Pitt works to make room for largest ever first-year class

With a first-year class of 5,195 students, Pitt struggled to accommodate the large number of students. Departments hired new staff and added new class sections, and the University leased a hotel for housing.
First-year Mairead Clements deferred enrollment to take classes at the Community College of Allegheny County, work and save money.
