Tuition hiked, next year’s budget to increase by 3%

Pitt’s roughly $1 billion education and general budget will increase by 3%, or $29 million, next year, following Tuesday morning approval from the budget and executive committees of the University’s Board of Trustees.
The committee approved a flat distribution rate from the University’s endowment this year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Endowment distribution to remain the same for 2022 fiscal year

The Investment Committee of Pitt’s Board of Trustees voted at a public meeting Thursday morning to keep the spending policy and distribution from the University’s endowment funds the same in the 2022 fiscal year.
University officials said the Board will vote on several measures related to fossil fuel divestment and socially responsible investing at their meeting on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Members of the Fossil Free Pitt Coalition demonstrated at Pitt’s previous Board of Trustees meeting at Pitt’s Johnstown campus.
