The University allocated 25% of each student's dining dollars to 27 off-campus dining locations around the Oakland area under its new meal plans at the start of last semester. The vendors include Fuel and Fuddle, CHiKN, The Porch at Schenley and many more.
Sodexo laid off a majority of its workers without pay over spring break, when Pitt adjusted its dining services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Market Central and The Perch, the two dining halls on campus, remain closed.

Sodexo, the University’s dining contractor of 29 years, laid off a majority of its 400 to 500 workers without pay over spring break, when Pitt adjusted its dining services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pitt announced on Tuesday that it will not renew its contract with Sodexo.

Pitt to temporarily shutter dining halls as classes move online

Pitt Dining will temporarily shutter both dining halls, Market Central and The Perch at Sutherland Hall, and adjust the operating hours of several other campus eateries.
The University’s current dining contract with Sodexo will expire this summer with a new contract starting July 1. Planning for the contract transition to a new vendor or renewal with Sodexo would take place between March and July.
