Weekend Sports Recap: Volleyball salvages sour results

Pitt Athletics found itself on the wrong end of a disappointing weekend. While both cross country teams failed to qualify for the NCAA Championship meet, women’s basketball and wrestling compounded those losses with stinging defeats. The second-ranked volleyball team provided the lone bright spot of the weekend, picking up an ACC title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a win over Duke.
Friday’s match marked Pitt voleyball’s 100th ACC win.

Pitt athletics put together a solid weekend, with the wrestling and volleyball teams picking up big wins, while both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams sank in their meets. Volleyball continued its conference match winning streak and wrestling opened its dual meet season with a convincing win.
Pitt volleyball swept Wake Forest 3-0 at home on Friday, improving it’s record to 22-1 overall and 11-0 in the ACC.
