SJP suspension lifted by federal judge

In April, the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit on behalf of SJP after Pitt temporarily suspended the club. U.S. district court judge Nicholas J. Ranjan ordered the University to reinstate SJP on Aug. 28, three weeks before the club’s suspension was set to end on Sept. 18.

SGB addresses concerns about ICE presence on campus, hears SJP lawsuit against administration, approves governing code bill

At its weekly meeting on Tuesday at Nordy’s Place, Student Government Board heard concerns about rumors of ICE on campus and voted to pass the Omnibus Bill. A representative from Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which the university indefinitely suspended in March, stated that the organization is moving forward with a lawsuit against Pitt administration. The board also introduced a new bill to create a SGB Disability Liaison position, which will be voted on at the next public meeting.

ACLU of Pennsylvania sues Pitt over SJP suspension

The ACLU of Pennsylvania filed a federal civil lawsuit against the University of Pittsburgh and several administrators Tuesday morning on behalf of Students for Justice in Palestine at Pitt over the club’s indefinite suspension in March.
