‘Coolest thing I’ve ever seen’: Pymatuning visitors recount Monday’s eclipse

Passing clouds did not deter eclipse viewers at Pymatuning State Park. Approximately 400 people, including Pitt students and alumni, arrived at the state park 90 miles north of Pittsburgh to witness the total solar eclipse passing through North America.

Astronomy department gives recommendations for Monday’s eclipse

With the solar eclipse hitting Pittsburgh on the afternoon of Monday, April 8, members of Pitt’s Department of Physics and Astronomy provide safety tips and recommendations to first-time eclipse viewers. People must wear solar eclipse glasses to view the eclipse safely.
The Pitt Shadow Bandits, a team of Pitt students, faculty and staff, traveled to Tennessee to watch the total solar eclipse and test a theory about shadow bands.
