Sophomore Yunge Xiao named winner of 91.3 WYEP’s singer-songwriter competition

Yunge Xiao began writing songs for fun in third grade. An author of more than 55 original songs, she entered WYEP’s 2021 Singer-Songwriter Competition last summer and won in September.
Pitt Film Studies and Communication and Rhetoric alum Leah Dowdy performed on the “Today” show just months after releasing her first few songs on SoundCloud.
