SGB discusses in-person class concerns, student org finances pilot

A top Pitt administrator praised students at Tuesday’s Student Government Board meeting for their part in minimizing COVID-19 cases last academic year. But students asked questions and raised concerns regarding Pitt’s move on Monday to fully in-person classes.

SGB welcomes students during first meeting

During the first in-person Student Government Board meeting since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Harshitha Ramanan welcomed students to Nordy’s Place on Tuesday evening.
The LGBTQIA+ task force has been drafting and finalizing a report to present to Pitt’s senior administration over the past two semesters, in an effort to begin implementing the task force’s requests. While the report is nearly finished, the task force is turning to the Pitt community for support.

Student Government Board’s Tuesday evening meeting was filled with tears and gratitude as seniors gave their last reports. In his opening statement, outgoing SGB President Eric Macadangdang humorously said the year of virtual meetings is finally coming to an end.

Pitt Student Government Board President Eric Macadangdang opened the board’s Tuesday evening meeting by encouraging Pitt students to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines
SGB created an Election Procedures Review task force to review the events leading up to election day, gather feedback on SGB elections and judicial codes and procedures and “reinforce public trust in SGB elections procedures by increasing public access to information,” according to the task force charter.
