The television franchise “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” are known for presenting the winning contestant with a rose. In reality television fashion, this gesture symbolically played out last week within Pitt’s incoming Student Government Board.
Student Government Board’s elections and judicial committees each held hearings less than 24 hours before polls opened at 8 a.m. on March 2 after two complaints were filed against the Vision slate.

The debate for the next Student Government Board president included heated conversations about prior SGB experience, Student Activity Fee funding and even one candidate pulling out their calculator to check allocations information listed on SGB’s website.
Pitt’s Student Government Board, including President Eric Macadangdang, urged the Board of Trustees to immediately divest of fossil fuel investments in a Thursday statement.

SGB slams board report advising slow fossil fuel divestment

Student Government Board slammed a report released last Friday by a Board of Trustees committee which advocated for a gradual divestment from fossil fuels. SGB President Eric Macadangdang, along with the other board members, supports immediate divestment.
Twelve students are running for a position on the Student Government Board, in addition to three students running for the position of SGB president.
