Patti, special teams lead Pitt to 37-35 Sun Bowl victory against No. 18 UCLA

Quarterback Nick Patti defended his status as a bowl game specialist, leading Pitt to a 37-35 victory against No. 18 UCLA in the Sun Bowl. Kicker Ben Sauls went 5-5 in the game and made the game winning field goal late.

Pitt football accepted a bid for the 2022 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers are set to square off against No. 18 UCLA in El Paso on Dec. 30.

Panthers come up short to Stanford in Sun Bowl, 14-13

Despite out-gaining its opponent in nearly every facet of the game, the Pitt football team fell to Stanford, 14-13, in the Hyundai Sun Bowl Monday afternoon, thus failing to crack .500 for the second straight season.

It’s official, Pitt will be playing Stanford in the Sun Bowl, the Panthers first bowl game in two years. After two tough loses, it will be the perfect place for Pitt’s seniors to leave their mark on the program.
